DONALDSON AND PUJOLS: Using Online Hitting Annotations for Swing Analysis

Summary

In the video above, Coach Baseball Right Founder and National Master Certified Epstein Hitting Instructor Steve Nicollerat uses Donaldson and Pujols swing to discuss using online hitting annotations for swing analysis. We are now at point in teaching and coaching the game of baseball that technology can push us to greater depths in understanding the game.

Take a second and think about something.

Imagine trying to play professional baseball 60-70 years ago. You had players like Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Warren Spahn and Bob Gibson playing the game. These were the top players in the the game (not to mention the world!) The one thing they did not have readily, if not at all, was technology to hone their skill. Pitchers relied on talking through their approach to hitters. Hitters relied upon very basic stats on coming up with their hitting approach.

In the last 10 years, technology has develop so much that we see it is now influencing the game more than ever! One of the positive technological contributions in baseball is that we are using online hitting annotations for swing analysis. Using hitting annotations for swing analysis helps players better understand what they are doing during the swing and why are they doing it during the swing. IMPORTANT NOTE: hitters still need to be aware and implement a hitting approach.

Therefore, it is critical for coaches and parents to use technology (which can be done on your smartphones) to help your child better understand what they are doing in their particular sport.

Take Away

  • Access to technology has never been easier - so use it to help your players!
  • Make sure you understand the Hitting Basics - (we have a Free Hitting Basics Guide, if you need a place to start. Shameless plug.)
  • It takes time and a lot of practice to understand hitting and your swing. This is something that doesn't happen overnight.

Coach Baseball Right Hitting Resources

As a longtime teacher and coach, I have learned a ton from a lot of people. I am still teaching and coaching and I am still learning from others. In fact that one of the reasons why I became a National Master Certified Epstein Hitter about 20 years ago is to better understand hitting and how I can better help my players and now coaches through Coach Baseball Right better understand hitting.

I have created several hitting resources that will help you better understand your own hitting. Please take a look at the best hitting resources for your needs. And as always, let me know if there is anyway I can help you!
