(Team Meeting Topic) "Baseball a Numbers Game"

Weather not cooperating? Don't have a field or gym to practice at? Sounds like a great opportunity to have a team meeting. In this post, we suggest a great team meeting topic. Heck you can even play the video above to your team. It's about 30 minutes.

The team meeting topic is on looking at baseball as a numbers game. The video and accompany outline is meant to help players and coaches understand the game from an increase or decreasing chance of success - a numbers game.

Here is the outline for the perfect Team Meeting Topic: Baseball a Numbers Game. Feel free to print out the outline, share the post, use it to your advantage!

(Team Meeting Topic) "Baseball a Numbers Game"

The Game in a Nutshell –

A Game of Numbers (Increase and Decrease Odds)

Hitting

Hitters fail 7 out of 10 times. Chances are great with the pitcher.

What does this mean for you?

  • Mental Plan vs. “See it, hit it”
  • Read Fastball
  • Divide Plate
  • QAB – 6+ pitches (Except when runners in scoring position)
  • Move Runners Over/Get on Base, RBIs
  • Important Counts:
  • 0 – 0 – Stick to plan vs. RISP
  • 2 – 0 – Cannot be LATE
  • 3 – 0 – TAKE!
  • Anything and 1 strike - Plan
  • 0 or 1 – 2 – Foul Off and do not take 2 strike

Base Running

  • Anticipate
  • Situation #1 First Base – Curve ball in dirt
  • Relay Situation - throw is over cut man
  • Cut Throw In

Pitching

Fielding

  • No extra outs
